🔑 Answer key (for teachers)
  1. You buy a hot dog and a lemonade. How much do you spend?
    $4 + $2 = $6
  2. You buy popcorn and a pretzel and pay with a $10 bill. How much change do you get?
    $3 + $5 = $8, and $10 − $8 = $2 change
  3. Your family buys 3 bottles of water. How much is that?
    3 × $1 = $3
  4. Four friends each buy a hot dog. How much do they spend altogether?
    4 × $4 = $16
  5. Which two different snacks cost exactly $7 together? (There are two answers.)
    Hot dog + popcorn ($4 + $3), or pretzel + lemonade ($5 + $2)
  6. You have $10. What is the greatest number of hot dogs you can buy?
2 hot dogs ($8). A third would make $12, which is too much.

Teacher notes

  • The menu uses practice prices so every answer is a whole number.
  • The extension uses a real 2026 price from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the Falcons sell $2 hot dogs. Extension answer: 5.
  • Ask students to draw the bills and coins they would use for the change questions.
