Best seats

This 1949 rink (about 4,700 capacity) has the CHL's last Olympic-size ice and a gorgeous wooden roof. Seats are cramped, and some sections have low roof trusses, so watch your head when you stand.

Parking

The arena is surrounded by surface parking lots, about a kilometre south of downtown Chicoutimi.

Getting there

The arena is in the Chicoutimi borough of Saguenay, about 1 km south of the riverfront downtown. From Québec City it's roughly a 2.5-hour drive north through the Laurentides wildlands.

Bar scene

Downtown Chicoutimi, a kilometre north on the Saguenay riverfront, has the bars and restaurants. Inside, the beer has traditionally come from local microbrewery La Voie Maltée, including a "Sags Beer" blonde.

• The ice is Olympic-size, which makes for a fast, wide-open game.
• Seats have little legroom, so taller fans may want aisle seats.
• Tickets sell online through Xpayrience. For big games, the team has opened the arena box office when the online system struggled.
• There are three narrow concourses (under the stands, on top and a rinkside moat), so traffic spreads out even at sellouts.
